A selection of breath-taking photographs of the Galápagos Islands from photographer Fernando Espinosa Chauvin – displayed in The Tropics, at Auckland Zoo.

Presented by the Embassy of Ecuador in Australia, Galápagos Surreal is the artist’s exploration of this seeming contradiction of the Galápagos as a remarkably unforgiving environment that at the same time offers a kind of paradise for many species of wildlife.

Captured in a series of expeditions to the archipelago over a two year period, these black and white images encourage an appreciation of unique relationships between shape and texture; living forms and the terrain itself.

Normal zoo admission prices apply.
